Local Foraging Basics at the Civic Media Center- April 2023

It’s looking like this class will be a reoccurring one! We gathered at the CMC to share a love of wild edibles and learn the basics of gathering and eating wild food ethically and sustainably. Special thanks to Jude for the pictures!

Dark Hearts Library Dance Party and CMC Membership Drive- February 2023

As a benefit for the CMC, the Dark Hearts event was a gothic take on valentines with the intention to get people dancing and celebrating together. Participants were able to make and select valentines. There was a secret photo room that was only accessed by a password that was hidden in a word scrabble in QR codes amongst the valentines. Participants organically formed teams to solve the puzzle and take photos in the secret room.

Emotional Exchange- July 2022

This collaborative community event invited participants to share emotions, stories, and art inspired by the last two years. The contribution went in an envelope, addressed to a stranger who needed to feel what you shared.

Participants had an opportunity to find a piece that resonated with them and claim it for a donation. A “creative release” station was set up for participants to put on paper the emotions that need to be released.

"Emotional Exchange" is about the give and take of vulnerability, the willingness to share, and the deep connections that can be formed through creative expression.

Local Foraging Basics- April 2022

As part of CMC’s skill shares, I taught a class on local edible plants and mushrooms. The following day, myself and Susan Marynowski led a plant walk at Boulware Springs.

C1RCU1T F3T15H- November 2019

Celebrating the CD release of cyberpunk band Syn Nine, this interactive event involved over 25 actors, performers, and vendors who played a role in a larger story that participants had to solve by finding the Gl!tches (clones) and solving tasks. The entire event allowed participants to interact with a futuristic narrative of cloning, memory-stealing nanobots, and evil corporations. In the story, they played a key role in solving a mystery, helping recover stolen memory, and helping the original Gl!tch. The event included DJ Maus (Orlando), DJ maus (Tampa), Dancing with Ghosts (Jax), Syn Nine (Orlando), Kerosene Kitty doing hoop, and a shibari performance by Suolinga and Nira the MFing Kitten. Ginger Leigh, digital artist, shared her VR “drug” experience upstairs in the cloud bar.
